The City of Atmore finally has a new emblem of community pride – their first municipal flag.
Atmore City can attribute their new municipal flag to one key group, the Leadership Atmore class of 2013. The group worked tirelessly in order to bring a new symbol of community pride to the town’s residents. The flag design was officially unveiled on Monday, March 11th and immediately adopted by the city council during their regular meeting. The vote was unanimous.
All elements of the flag, including the locomotive inside a circular pattern, words “Atmore, Alabama” and “Founded in 1907,” were meant to commemorate the rich traditions of the city and honor their past. During the early 1900’s, Atmore got its start as Williams train station. The city already has plans to officially dedicate the municipal flag during this year’s Mayfest later in May.
