Greg Cosell’s Top 5 in an NFL Mock Draft, Wave your NFL Team Flag

2012 NFL Season Starts Today with the NFL Draft – Wave Your NFL Team Flag

In case you haven’t heard, today is the day that football fans across the nation have been waiting for: the first round of the NFL Draft for the 2012 season. The NFL Draft will take place beginning tonight, Thursday, April 26 at 8:00 PM EST and goes through Saturday afternoon from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

The first five teams in projected draft order are the Indianapolis Colts, Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Teams are given a position in the draft in reverse order relative to its record in the previous year – last place gets first pick. From this draft order position, teams can either select a player or trade their position to another team in exchange for players, picks or a combination of both.

Since the completion of the BCS National Championship game between Alabama and LSU earlier this year, speculations have been looming about which players would be picked in the first round of the NFL Draft. Greg Cosell studies films for the NFL and put together a 2012 NFL Mock Draft for the first round, solely based on football film and analyzing team needs. Cosell has predicted these five players will go to the teams in the draft order in the first round:

  • Indianapolis Colts will select quarterback Robert Griffin III of Baylor
  • Washington Redskins will select quarterback Andrew Luck of Stanford
  • Minnesota Vikings will select cornerback Stephon Gilmore of South Carolina
  • Cleveland Browns will select running back Trent Richardson of Alabama
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers will select cornerback Janoris Jenkins  of North Alabama
Robert Griffin III – Heisman winner this year

Every analyst and football fan alike has their own predictions or gut feelings they think each team will take. Who do you think your team will draft in the first round?

There are NFL Draft viewing parties all around town – and coverage will not be sparse of the Draft – for an informal kickoff to the 2012 NFL Season. Are you ready for the NFL season? Get your gear, heat up the grill, and wave your team flag for a football season that is sure to entertain.
