Sen. Brewer donates state flag to Catholic organization
Not usually on the receiving side of donations, Catholic charitable organization Knights of Columbus received the Massachusetts state flag gift from Sen. Stephen Brewer. This organization located in the city of Ware, usually known for making donations to anyone in need, was presented the flag during a monthly council meeting in mid-November.
Accepting the Massachusetts state flag gift was no difficult decision. The state flag is much needed since the group hosts Boy Scout and Cub Scout meetings, which require a flag present during all gatherings. Knight William H. Bradley, 64, of Ware, was put in charge of asking the senator for the gracious donation, who gladly obliged.
Brewer made a statement thanking the Knights for all they do for the community as he handed the flag to a dozen executive committee members. The Ware Knights of Columbus truly support all parts of their community through many different fundraisers. Notable, this past fall the Boy and Cub scouts organized a coat drive that collected over 200 youth jackets.
