The Seattle Seahawks are an NFL team located in Seattle, Washington – which is the largest city in the state. The team is owned by Paul Allen, who is the co-founder of nearby technology giant Microsoft. They currently play in the NFC West division with the 49ers, Cardinals, and Rams. Their official team colors are college navy, wolf grey and action green.
Team History
The Seattle Seahawks first became an NFL team in 1976. The team had limited success during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. They were a poor team playing on the west coast with limited television coverage – it was a tough situation for Seahawks fans. However, the team started to become a regular playoff contender in the mid 2000’s with the arrival of Coach Mike Holmgren from the Green Bay Packers.
The Seahawks have made the playoffs 14 times in their 40 year history. They have also made it to the Super Bowl twice, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005 and beating the Denver Broncos in 2014. Their recent success has helped them build one of the most rabid fan bases in the league.
Stadium
The Seattle Seahawks have played at two different stadiums in their 40 year history. They began playing at the Kingdome in the 1970’s until the stadium was demolished in the early 2000’s.

CenturyLink Field
In 2002 the team began playing at the brand new Quest Field. Quest Field was then renamed to CenturyLink Field in 2011. “The Clink” has built the reputation as the loudest NFL stadium in the league despite a capacity of just 67,000. It held the World Record for loudest outdoor stadium until the Kansas City Chiefs Arrowhead Stadium broke it in 2014.
