The first American flag (Betsy Ross flag) was adopted on June 14, 1777. The Betsy Ross flag featured 13 stars in a circular formation – each star represented a state that had joined the United States. The last revision of the American flag was adopted on July 4, 1960. The current version of the American flag has 50 stars to represent the 50 states. Each of the 50 states also has their own state flag – all of which were adopted at different times.
We have assembled the entire list of 50 state flags with their state flag adoption dates. The adoption dates listed are for the most recently updated version of the flag.
