A Wisconsin woman is honored with American flag after writing over 2,000 Christmas cards for men and women serving this country in the Armed Forces.
Giving someone an American Flag is truly a great honor. Last week one woman received that very honor after writing over 2,000 Christmas cards for men and women serving this country, just because she wanted to!
Nancy Wilde is from Merrill, Wisconsin and she was absolutely stunned and surprised when she received an American flag that was raised in Afghanistan specifically for her. And she got the flag all because of some Christmas cards.
Wilde did not simply write a few cards. She wrote over 2,000 cards to men and women serving in the Armed Forces overseas. Wilde said, “There are a lot of servicemen that are protecting us. This wouldn’t have happened without them.”
So, to say thank you the International Security Forces Headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan hoisted a US flag in her honor. Sergeant Jacob Willard said, “The flag of the United States of America, accompanying this certificate, was proudly flown for the International Security Forces Headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan for your dedication and countless sacrifices to support troops in Afghanistan during the Operation Enduring Freedom, thank you.”
Now that flag gently rests in Wilde’s arms, who said she will fly the flag every day, but only if the weather is perfect! But for now she is overwhelmed by the gratitude and only hopes others will also remember the troops around the holiday season.
